Excerpts from the regulations and the jury-process

To be eligible, a book must have been published during the previous year and at least one of the collaborators must live or work in Brussels and/or Wallonia. The participating books are judged by an international jury of book professionals, who take into account all components of the book bearing in mind their appropriateness with the content of the work. In general we can state that the Prize wishes to privilege distinct approaches of a number of books and highlight the coherence of interaction between several agents involved in the book: the graphical designer, the publisher and the printer-binder. The Prize also wants to reward remarkable aspects of graphical, conceptual or technical nature. It is not intended to honour books which are – however without fault – also without risk or soul.

For this fourth edition of the Fernand Baudin Prize, the jury took place in Sint-Lukas Brussels, College of Art an Design, on 16th and 17th January 2012.

109 books registered for participation and eligible, presented by categories, were shown to the jury. After the consultation of these books, 27 books were selected for the debating.
Only the 7 books having obtained a majority of the votes in the final round were elected award-winners and bear the title of “Prize-winner of the 2011 Fernand Baudin Prize”.
An honorary diploma will be given to the 3 collaborators of each award-winning book: graphic designer, publisher and printer.
The selected books that didn’t receive a majority of the votes, are thediscussed books.
