Fredrik Åkum
I had the pleasure of receiving 3 zines by Swedish artist Fredrik Åkum in the post the other day. Awash with dark dreamy landscapes and toxic commotion these publications narrate strange happenings and textures. Åkum works between colours, clashing pastels and fluorescents with similar thematic contrasts; small moments to large distorted landscapes.
Fredrik Åkum also co-founded Jarko – an independent publishing house in Gothenburg. Creating artist publications in limited numbers, their website has a large amount of interesting projects.
Note Jarko’s logo also; round but sharp – a fine example of getting things right.
