Jeffrey Waldman – Intercepted Signals

This series of prints by Jeffrey Waldman is based on distorting images of government-run signal intelligence systems (that intercept communication). These sites are often shrouded in secrecy, Waldman has taken text from the limited amount of public information available and inserted it into the jpeg file via a text edit program, thus creating a series of distorted sites. Each image is accompanied by the jpeg code text that explains the specific of the site.

Since each system is tied to a country, or group of countries, that operate it: he has made a series of continually scrambled country decals for nations that have a signals intelligence systems. Just like the information these systems intercept, the country names are distorted but able to be read nonetheless.
